lifescraps’ take on sustainability
how we create is just as important as what we create

THE PREMISE
Creativity does not need to contribute to more consumerism, but can help give new life and meaning to old things. As such, lifescraps is built on what’s already here - old paper, leftover prints, forgotten postcards, scraps in drawers = to reuse, repurpose, rethink.
As the old (but timeless) saying goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure.
LOCAL LOOPS
Where possible, we source from local thrift shops and flea markets, but we also love working with:
Artists with scrap piles
Community members with unused tools and supplies
=> Got materials to donate? Drop a message!
WHAT WE USE
Donated and secondhand materials+tools
Magazines, newspapers, junk mail
Packaging, tags, scrap paper, envelopes
Refillable and recyclable adhesives
what we avoid
Lamination or plastic wrapping
Single-use DIY/craft kits
Waste-heavy packaging
Toxic adhesives or solvents
Glitter, beads, sequins, foam (even where non-plastic/biodegradable, to avoid any confusion)
further improvements
While lifescraps intends to use the most environmentally friendly solutions, this is a work in progress, combined with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. With that in mind, some of the future improvements in practice include:
Making handmade recycled paper from scraps
Creating refill hubs for glue, tape, and staples
